To help us plan the best treatment regimen for you we ask that you bring your list of medications, and medical records, including diagnostic testing and/or photographs pertaining to your medical condition.
As a new patient, expect to spend around 3-4 hours at our clinic. During this time, a thorough examination and, if required, diagnostic testing, is done.
After checking in at reception, our highly trained ophthalmic assistant will take a detailed medical history, check your vision, take your intraocular pressures, and dilate your pupils. Pupil dilation is needed to allow the treating ophthalmologist to thoroughly examine the retina. You will not be able to drive a vehicle for several hours after leaving our facility as your pupil will be dilated, so please make alternate travel arrangements.
Once your pupils are dilated, the treating ophthalmologist will review your history and thoroughly examine your eyes. Based on the ocular findings, the ophthalmologist will recommend various diagnostic testing and ocular imaging. These tests will be performed by one of our highly trained nursing staff or ophthalmic assistants.
After reviewing your examination and diagnostic testing, the treating ophthalmologist will develop a treatment plan. Depending on the urgency of the ocular finding, the treatment will be done in the office the same day.
